Ruth and Esther make quite a distinguished pair: they’re the only two books in the Bible named after women. Of course, that’s not the only reason to study them—although God clearly means for us (both men and women) to pay attention to the crucial role of women in the big story of redemption.

The story of Ruth is one that shows how incredible the grace of God works in bringing one of his people into the fold of believers. The likelihood of this happy result in Ruth's life would be one even internet bookmakers would hesitate to quote odds on.

What a tremendous book we have just completed. Not only is it a great story with all the drama and elements that a novel would contain, but it contains great lessons about how we should be living, conducting ourselves on the job, facing opposition, facing success, and looking ahead confidently to the future.

Esther then ask the Jews to fast about this for three days and three nights (Esther ). -The book of Esther is one of only two in the Bible named for women (the other is Ruth). -It’s also one of two books of the entire Bible that doesn’t actually mention God’s name (the other is Song of Songs). And though we don’t read God’s name in the story. God's grace is depicted in the book of Esther through the heroine as a type of Jesus Christ.

Esther, like JESUS, is willing to die for her people and is an advocate on their behalf. The book of Esther shows how God in His grace preserves His people in the face of danger and opposition, as He protected them from the threat of annihilation.
